Serving the Weymouth community since 1852 — the first Church of Christ in Digby County, Nova Scotia. A place of worship, fellowship, and heritage.
Learn About Our Mission Get In TouchWe envision a community of believers faithfully following the pattern of the New Testament church — united in worship, growing in spiritual depth, and radiating the love of Christ throughout Digby County and beyond. As stewards of one of Nova Scotia's most treasured heritage churches, we are committed to preserving this sacred landmark while ensuring it remains a living, vibrant place of worship for generations to come.
Our vision is to be a welcoming spiritual home where every seeker finds truth, every neighbor finds compassion, and every generation finds purpose. We aspire to deepen our roots in Scripture, strengthen the bonds of Christian fellowship, and serve as a beacon of hope and faith in the rural communities of southwestern Nova Scotia.
Nestled along Langford Road in the heart of Southville, near Weymouth, Nova Scotia, the Southville Church of Christ stands as a testament to over 170 years of faithful Christian worship. Built in 1889, our beautiful wooden church is a municipally registered heritage property recognized for its distinctive Greek Revival architecture, including its original tin ceilings and classic entablature.
More than a historic landmark, we are an active and welcoming congregation. Whether you are a lifelong member of the Church of Christ or someone seeking to learn more about New Testament Christianity, our doors are always open. We invite you to join us in worship, fellowship, and service as we continue the legacy begun by Reverend Donald Crawford in 1852.

Join us each Sunday for a cappella worship grounded in Scripture. Our services follow the patterns of the early New Testament church — simple, reverent, and focused on glorifying God through prayer, singing, communion, and the study of His Word.
We are more than a congregation — we are a family. From shared meals after Sunday worship to community gatherings and seasonal celebrations, our church provides a warm and welcoming environment where lasting friendships are formed and strengthened.
As a municipally registered heritage property since 1999, our 1889 church building stands as Digby County's first Church of Christ. We are proud custodians of this architectural treasure, preserving its Greek Revival beauty and rich history for future generations.
The Southville Church of Christ is not only a place of worship but also a cherished community heritage site. Our one-and-one-half-storey wooden structure, with its distinctive Greek Revival corner trim, prominent entablature, and heavy cornice returns, tells the story of the Restoration Movement's arrival in southwestern Nova Scotia.
Today, the building also serves as a community museum, preserving artifacts and stories from Digby County's rich cultural past. Visitors are welcome to explore the original tin ceilings, the carefully maintained interior, and the grounds that have witnessed generations of faith, prayer, and fellowship.
